Obituary

Born on February 24, 1947, in Cleveland, Ohio, Eddie Epps spent most of his life in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he passed away peacefully, at the age of 78, after fighting a courageous battle with lung cancer.

Eddie was preceded in death by his two sisters – Emma Jean & Dorthey. He is survived by his beloved daughter, London Epps and her husband John Jolicoeur; his stepson, William Schunk; his stepdaughter, Lisa Richmond; along with his cherished grandchildren, Alaysia Epps and Cayden Munday, who were the light of his life.  He was the son of Maddie Scott, and while he never knew his father, Eddie created his own legacy of love and support for those who knew him.

For many years, Eddie faced different challenges. However, his life took a profound turn 15 years ago, when he dedicated himself to Jesus Christ.  His faith became the cornerstone of his sobriety and the driving force behind his commitment to helping others. His life ministry was realized as a residential manager at the Salvation Army's drug rehabilitation center for the past 13+ years.  Eddie lived and worked tirelessly at the center, sharing his faith and personal experiences to positively impact the lives of hundreds of men and their families helping them on their own journeys to recovery.

Beyond his ministry helping others, Eddie had a deep love for Cleveland sports teams, the Browns and the Cavaliers…through all their ups and downs.  He enjoyed friendly competition playing cards or dominoes and was a devoted fan of action and science fiction movies and shows.

Eddie will be remembered for his compassionate and caring nature. Having experienced his own struggles, he approached everyone with understanding and without judgment, believing in the redemptive power of faith and second chances. He was a true friend who didn't just offer words of support but took real action, whether it was picking someone up and bringing them to the center for help or just sitting and talking with someone in need.  Eddie was a man who touched many lives.

His greatest joy came from his family, London, Alaysia and Cayden.  His love for them was boundless, and his faith further deepened his desire to be a positive and stable influence on them.  He was a constant presence in their lives, attending their gymnastics meets and basketball games, weekly sleepovers and showering them with unending affection.  He will be missed greatly!
