Eugene “Gino” Buffington
Eugene “Gino” Buffington, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away March 18, 2026 surrounded by the love of his family. Gino will be remembered for his warmth, humor, and the genuine connections he built with everyone he met.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Jean Buffington; his sons, Sean (Emily) Buffington and grandson Oscar and Brett (Abby Bowden, and Violet) Buffington. All who brought him immense pride and joy.
Gino was a lifetime member of IUOE Local 18. He had a way of making life feel lighter and more meaningful, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Family and friends are invited to gather in his honor at St. Cecilia Church in Oakley on Thursday, April 9, 2026. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM a Memorial Mass at 11:00 AM.
In keeping with Gino’s wishes—and his dislike of traditional funerals—a celebration of life will be held in the afternoon at the Oak Tavern. Guests are encouraged to come as they are, wearing their favorite team’s logo or colors, just as Gino would have wanted. To further celebrate his life, those attending are invited to bring a favorite dish or food they shared with Gino. Please include a note sharing the memory behind it—don’t be shy, he knows.
Thanks for the blessings and strength of the ATO brotherhood “Gino‘s brotherhood”. They continually prove their love for him by giving and doing. This was demonstrated again this week when the venue for the celebration of life relocated to the Oak Tavern, 3089 Madison Road 45209. Same time, same everything, different place.
In lieu of Flowers, please consider making a donation to St Cecilia Church or Hospice of Cincinnati Blue Ash. Gino’s legacy lives on in the laughter, love, and memories he leaves behind.
