Joann Acres

Joann Acres (née Roberts) passed away on June 8, 2026, at the age of 71.

Joann held many titles in her lifetime — mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Joann lived life on her own terms. Throughout her life, she experienced many challenges but persevered with the help of her loving family. As we reflect on her life, her family will remember the experiences, lessons, and memories she leaves behind.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Acres; her daughter, Valerie Barton; her grandson, Josh Acres; her son-in-law, Todd Smallwood; her parents, Clayborn and Zula Roberts; and her brother, James Roberts.

Joann is survived by her son, Willie (Jenny) Acres, Jr., and her daughter Lisa Smallwood; grandchildren: Karissa, Ashley, Tori, Erica, Brittany, Tiffany, Willie, and Todd, along with 23 great-grandchildren. Joann is also survived by her sisters, Judy Barber and Wilma Sullivan; brother Wayne (Cheryl) Roberts; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate Joann's life on Saturday, June 13th, at 1pm at Tredway Funeral Home in Norwood, OH, with the funeral service to begin at 2pm.

Burial will take place on Wednesday, June 17th, at 9am at the Dayton National Cemetery.

Though she is no longer with us, Joann's memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
