Obituary

Ronald Forrest Pence, 84, of Clermont, Ohio, passed away peacefully on September 17 after a long and fulfilling life.

Ron was born on September 18, 1940, and was raised in Norwood by his parents, Forrest and Helen Pence, alongside his sister, Carol. Ron " Otto" was a talented high school athlete, and he loved telling stories of his time as Quarterback at Norwood High School.

After graduating from Norwood in 1958, he joined the Airforce. From 1958 to 1962, Ron was dedicated to serving his country through the care he took on planes as an Aircraft Mechanical Engineer. In 1963, Ron brought his skills to Sharonville, where he worked at the Ford Motor Company plant as an electrician.

Ron was very proud of his craft, but his biggest accomplishment was his three children: Jeffrey Pence, Karla Blankenship and Kelly Brokamp. He valued each moment spent with his three kids, and he cherished watching them grow and build families of their own.

After 36 years at Ford, Ron retired on November 1, 1999. His passion for cars stayed with him well past his time at Ford and led him to achieving one of his life's goals, building the garage of his dreams.  He finally had a home for his treasured Corvette and rebuilt GTO. Nothing made him happier than tinkering around in his garage, fixing up cars and whatever else that was broken.  In his eyes, there was nothing that could not be fixed.

When he was not turning wrenches, he spent time reading from his impressive collection of books and magazines and listening to music. In Ron's house, the Jukebox was always playing.

Ron was a member of the American Legion, the Ohio Valley GTO Association, The Masonic Scottish Rites and the Shriners.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Forrest and Helen Pence and his brother Jimmie.

He is survived by his sister, Carol (Steve) Helterbridle, his children: Jeffrey (Renay) Pence, Karla (Todd) Blankenship, Kelly (Terry) Brokamp, his grandchildren: Adam Pence, Ali (Jeremy) Caudill, Stacey (Joel) Thompson, Amber and Chad(Shelby) Blankenship, and Taylor, Ryan and Megan Brokamp, along with 9 great grandchildren.

Visitation will take place Saturday 9/21 at Tredway Funeral Home, Norwood from 10 am until time of funeral service at 11:30 am. Interment at Laurel Carmel Cemetery in New Richmond, OH.
