POTTER, Barbara Marie (Syroney) “Barb”
Age 84, of Cincinnati, OH passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at the Mount Washington Care Center. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 13 from 6:00-8:00 PM at the Clepper Funeral Home in Cincinnati, OH. Funeral Services will be held at and livestreamed (www.tinyurl.com/barbarampotter) from the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Cincinnati on Friday, April 14 at 10:00 AM. Burial to follow at the Gates of Heaven Cemetery in Montgomery, OH.
Barbara was born in Cleveland, OH on August 16, 1938, to Lewis and Wanda (Sierputowski) Syroney. She graduated from East High School in 1956, then obtained her Registered Nurse (RN) diploma in 1959 from the Good Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing in Cincinnati. That same year she married William G. Potter (deceased) of Middletown, OH, and raised seven children in St. Louis, MI, where she was active in the Catholic church and local community. She resumed her nursing career in 1976 as an RN for a local migrant school program, then as a hospital and home care nurse for the next 13 years. At the culmination of her nursing career, she worked in infection control and became a certified nursing instructor, training and certifying nursing home caregivers and aides. A person of deep religious faith, Barbara will always be remembered for her kindhearted, helpful, deeply caring and always friendly soul.
Barbara is survived by her brother Lewis (Mary Jane Stanko) Syroney of Cleveland, OH; seven children: son James (Karen Wyson) of Concord, NH; daughter Christine (Rick) Potter-Wroblewski of Cincinnati; son Edward (Ann Clancy) of Arlington, VA; son Frank (Brenda Brown) of Palmyra, PA; son Thomas (Jennifer Wolski) of Cincinnati; son Michael (Teresa Williams) of Pigeon, MI; and son Theodore of Covington, KY; and fifteen grandchildren (Jack, Elizabeth, Katherine, Sarah, Nikolai, Polina, Gillian, Collin, Elise, Elaina, Liam, Jessica, Kady, Christopher and Luke). She is also survived by exchange student-daughter Marjolein Crins of The Netherlands. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Carl, Robert, Conrad, and Ralph of Cleveland.
