Shirley Smith Obituary

Shirley "SHE-DEVIL" Smith, 80, passed away peacefully Sunday, June 5, 2022 at Indian Springs of Oakley after a long battle with dementia & other health issues. She was preceded in death by both parents, husband, two sisters and brother.

Shirley was born on June 8, 1941 to the late Lee Anna & Sylvester Miller of Four Mile, KY. She attended Lone Jack High school and later went on to marry Clifford Smith (married 58 years) before moving to Norwood, Ohio where they lived for the duration of their lives. Shirley's "Kentucky baby" Carman Patterson (her niece) kept her busy in the 70's. She always told her "If you don't be good, I'm going to have a baby & it's going to steal your birthday" and low & behold she had her only daughter, Vickie, one day before her birthday!

Shirley was a hardworking woman, working long hours in a few different factory jobs throughout her life to provide for her family. She was a tough one & didn't let anyone or anything get in her way. She helped take care of her family, near & far, over the years. She was always there to help any way she could.

Shirley made sure that whoever crossed her path knew she was a wrestler named She-Devil. She would NOT let you forget it! Shirley was a jokester & a talker by nature. She loved to make you laugh & never met a stranger. In the 90's, she marched many parades as the Statue of Liberty in honor of our country. She did a lot for our soldiers to honor them, even marching in a parade in Washington D.C. The last 9 years of her life, she couldn't go anywhere without talking about her grandson, Elijah. He was her pride and joy!

To live on in her memory is her only child Vickie (Danyell), grandson Elijah, sisters Wanda & Margie (Clayton), dear friend Orlando who she loved as a son as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and her extended family, the Washington's & Shannon's.. May her memory and feisty spirit live on forever in our hearts.
